The Shortest day of 2023 has come and gone. From the deck of The High Country Lodge, The Sun rises over the very top of Mount Baldy at 8:05 am. Mount Baldy is the largest stand alone Peak in the Summit County area with an elevation of 13,690 ft.
The Sun hangs low in the southern sky as it traverses one of the few areas of the Continental Divide where it goes East/West. Until setting directly over the top of Peak 7, 12,665 ft at 3:09 pm
This makes for a short day of about 7 hours of sunlight. However, no shortage of activities
Skiing and snowboarding are still the most popular, but there are many others from walking the downtown historic district with all its lights and glory to taking a horse drawn sleigh ride.
Even with all the night time activities, I am looking forward to longer days and the possibility of some more powder days.
Look forward to hosting you and your group here at The High Country Lodge, Breckenridge, CO
