The international snow sculpture challenge is such an amazing event.
This event happens at the end of January every year and is comprised of worldly competitors using 20 ton blocks of snow to carve elegant figurines.
It’s kind of curious how the event started. Back in the 70s a couple realtors were trying to get people to come to Breckenridge to buy real estate, so they started the event. They eventually got it to national status, and then international. And now you have to make a reservation to see the sculptures on Saturday.
By the way, this is the perfect time to visit Breckenridge. The snow is usually excellent. The whole mountain is open and the crowds have kind of diminished from the holidays, so it’s a perfect time to come and enjoy the season.
Hope to see you up here next year for the Breckenridge international snow sculpture championships.
